Chelsea have joined Manchester United in the race for Brentford midfielder Yegor Yarmolyuk, according to a report.

The Ukraine international is increasingly appearing on the radar of elite clubs due to his performances for Brentford. Yarmolyuk is a regular fixture for the Bees, and he has been impressing for some time.

Man Utd, who are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements, have reportedly identified the 21-year-old as an alternative target to Carlos Baleba. The Brighton star is the Red Devils' top target, but his price, expected to be in excess of €100 million, could prove prohibitive.

Yarmolyuk is seen as a significantly more affordable option, and FootballTransfers recently explained why he would be a perfect partner for Bruno Fernandes in Ruben Amorim's system.

However, Man Utd are not the only club attracted by the youngster's consistently solid performances. According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are now also 'making checks' on Yarmolyuk.

Chelsea want Yarmolyuk

The report states that Chelsea have officially joined the race for the Ukrainian, much to the dismay of Brentford, who are 'not encouraging interest in the player.'

The chances of a big move in 2026 are steadily increasing with each passing game. Tottenham, too, are said to be keen on the midfielder, given that Thomas Frank is intimately familiar with his game.

Brentford, the report claims, will resist any January offers, but they may have no choice but to reluctantly sell him in the summer window should a suitable bid arrive.

It is asserted that Yarmolyuk could be available for as little as €34.5 million, which is a fee that will likely only increase the interest in him as the season goes on. For a 21-year-old full-time international with 65 Premier League appearances under his belt, this is a steal in today's market.
