Manchester United are set to miss out on goalkeeper target Senne Lammens to Inter, according to a report.

The Red Devils have vacillated on their goalkeeping department this summer. Initially, they were not planning to sign a new shot-stopper as they felt that they had different priorities.

However, Andre Onana's disappointing performances last term and his injury in pre-season meant that Man Utd still scoured the goalkeeper market to identify potential targets.

They even made contact with Aston Villa to explore a deal for Emiliano Martinez, illustrating that their decision not to reinforce between the sticks was not set in stone. Man Utd offered a loan, which was immediately rejected by the Birmingham club.

With the window slowly but surely drawing to a close, Man Utd look increasingly unlikely to bring in a new goalkeeper as Ruben Amorim is prioritising the recruitment of a dynamic midfielder.

Man Utd miss out on Lammens

Man Utd's dithering on whether or not to sign a goalkeeper this summer will now see them miss out on Royal Antwerp star Senne Lammens, who had been earmarked as one of the top options to replace Onana.

Man Utd had been keeping tabs on the Belgian for months, but they refrained from making a move, which has now given Inter the chance to decisively swoop in.

According to The Telegraph, the Serie A giants are 'pushing hard' for the 23-year-old, and Man Utd are now 'set to miss out' on him. The Nerazzurri are looking for a long-term replacement for veteran Yann Sommer.

Onana is back fit again and will remain Man Utd's No.1 this season, with Altay Bayindir once again serving as his backup. It will be a make-or-break campaign for the under-fire Cameroon international after two underwhelming years at Old Trafford.
