Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund finds himself at a pivotal moment in his career.

After two years at Old Trafford, the Denmark international striker finds himself being forced to the exit thanks to the big-money arrival of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.

Having excelled for Atalanta for six months in Serie A previously, clubs from Italy are following his case, with AC Milan and Napoli both linked with a move.

Hojlund, though, has made one key demand: he wants to be a central part of any project he joins.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, this has played a key role in the 22-year-old deciding his next move.

Hojlund initially seemed close to moving to Milan. Now he favours a move to Napoli because there are greater prospects of regular game time due to an injury to Romelu Lukaku, while Antonio Conte’s side also has Champions League football next term.

It claims that at San Siro, there would have been a greater challenge due to Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao leading a 3-5-2 formation in which Santiago Gimenez is also pushing for action.

“Rasmus was perhaps worried he wouldn’t be able to make his mark, especially if a deal was not permanent,” Gazzetta states.

€30m agreement pushes Hojlund to Naples

With Hojlund seemingly heading for Napoli, Milan have elected to reinforce their offensive sector with an alternative.

Victor Boniface has agreed to move to the Rossoneri on loan from Bayer Leverkusen, with the Serie A side commanding a €30 million option to buy next summer, according to Sky Sport Deutschland.

There are still some details in the deal to be ironed out, but it appears that the Nigeria international is destined for Milan.

Hojlund, therefore, is getting closer to Napoli. Man Utd are set to agree a one-year loan worth €5m while there will be an option to buy that has not yet been agreed.
