The Spain U21 international has been sounded out as a key target by Mikel Arteta’s side and Arsenal are pushing to finalise a deal with Valencia amid their pursuit of a new central defender.

The Gunners failed to sign Dean Huijsen earlier this summer, with the 20-year-old opting to join Real Madrid for €62.5 million instead, and they have now set their sights on completing the signing of Mosquera ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

The Valencia star made 41 appearances across all competitions last season and he is viewed as the ideal understudy to William Saliba, according to The Mirror.

Aston Villa, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and Bournemouth are also interested in signing Mosquera, but Arsenal are advancing in negotiations to sign him and The Mirror claim they are hopeful of reaching an agreement over a €20m transfer fee as his current Valencia deal will expire in 2026.

Furthermore, the Spaniard has reportedly said yes to Arsenal’s proposal and he is now prioritising a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal close to triple deal

Although Arsenal are yet to formally announce their first summer signing, Mosquera would likely become their fourth new arrival if his proposed move is completed.

That is because Arsenal are on the verge of signing Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and Brentford captain Christian Norgaard.

The Gunners have reached an agreement to sign all three players, and they are expected to be unveiled shortly.

Arteta is also determined to sign a new centre forward, although Arsenal are yet to decide whether to sign RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko or Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres.
