Man Utd get Lewandowski transfer update as 'positive' talks confirmed

Manchester United's chances of getting Robert Lewandowski are dwindling as AC Milan's talks to sign the Barcelona ace are progressing well.

Sacha Tavolieri reports that Milan have already opened negotiations for Lewandowski.

The talks are said to be positive with the Milan project appealing to the 37-year-old.

New meetings to take the negotiations further are planned in the coming weeks with Lewandowski's agent Pini Zahavi and his representatives.

Milan want Lewandowski to be their latest golden oldie to join the club after the success of Luka Modric, 40, who has been outstanding this season after joining from Real Madrid on a free transfer.

This news comes as a blow to Man Utd, who have been the club most heavily linked to signing Lewandowski in 2026.

Lewandowski has been linked with a January transfer away from Barcelona as his contract expires at the end of the season.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Lewandowski has no intention to leave Barcelona mid season.

The Italian journalist says that Lewandowski is focused only on Barcelona this season and believes that the team has every chance to win every major trophy this season.

Romano says there is a concrete chance Lewandowski and Barcelona will part ways at the end of the campaign on a free transfer but not in January.

It is widely believed that Lewandowski wants to carry on playing in Europe rather than moving to MLS or the Middle East.

There has been little to no attempt from Barcelona or Lewandowski to ignite contract renewal talks.

Even though he is 37, Lewandowski still remains in excellent shape and is still scoring with regularity. He has seven goals in 12 games this term.

Lewandowski joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich at the age of nearly 34 in 2022 for €45 million rising too €50m.

Despite his age, he has continued to be prolific. He has scored 108 goals in 159 games for Barcelona.
