Manchester United are eyeing Bayer Leverkusen duo Jeremie Frimpong and Edmond Tapsoba, according to the latest reports.

Under Xabi Alonso, Leverkusen are flying at the moment, leaving the Bundesliga table. Now MEN reports that, given their strong form in Germany, Frimpong, and Tapsoba are on their radar - after both identified as potential defensive reinforcements by the club last year. It’s thought that Leverkusen's unbeaten run in the Bundesliga this season further adds to their appeal.

Tapsoba has been at the heart of Leverkusen’s triumphs of late. He was solid in their recent 3-0 victory over Bayern Munich, while Frimpong, coming off the bench, scored the final goal in that match.

Do Man Utd like Jeremie Frimpong ?

Man Utd had engaged in discussions with Frimpong's representatives last year, initially targeting a move in the 2023 summer transfer window. But Aaron Wan-Bissaka's improved form and Diogo Dalot's contract renewal meant that the move stalled, with the club opting to delay pursuing a right-back. Frimpong has since signed a new contract until 2028, but with Wan-Bissaka's contract expiring next year, United is expected to seek a new right-back.

Wan-Bissaka has been sidelined for the past four games due to a leg injury. Even though Dalot has solidified his position as the regular player in that position, it’s reported that Man Utd are in the market for a replacement.

Frimpong is a former Manchester City youth team player who has also been linked to Arsenal.

Leverkusen boasts the best defensive record in the Bundesliga, conceding only 14 goals in 21 games - and this has alerted several top European clubs.

Victor Lindelof had his contract extended for resale value, and Jonny Evans, Raphael Varane, and Harry Maguire are also part of the defensive unit, but there is a need for more.
