Chelsea could still add an attacker to Mauricio Pochettino's side on Deadline Day, according to a report.

The Blues, like the rest of the Premier League's big boys, have had a quiet January transfer window, with the recruitment chiefs at Stamford Bridge more focused on securing good loans for some of the club's most promising assets.

Nevertheless, there could yet be some late activity at Chelsea on Deadline Day. Fabrizio Romano already revealed on Wednesday that Fulham had launched a loan bid for Armando Broja, with David Ornstein later reporting that the Blues have softened their stance regarding a temporary exit.

Initially, they had only been willing to sanction a loan if it included an obligation to purchase the 22-year-old in the summer, but it now appears that a straight loan could be possible in exchange for a sizeable loan fee. There could yet be some movement regarding Broja and Chelsea could, somewhat surprisingly, still replace him before the window shuts.

Chelsea to make a late signing?

At least that is according to journalist Paul Brown, who told GIVEMESPORT that there is a chance of Chelsea making a low-key offensive signing to add competition up top.

“There is some talk that Chelsea might do a deal to bring someone in who could just put a bit of competition into those forward areas and maybe provide options in more than one position," Brown said. "So, it's not impossible that we see them sign some kind of forward today, but it won't be a high-profile one, I don't think.”

However, Brown did not mention any names nor did he reveal whether or not any deal will be contingent on Broja sealing his loan exit. It would certainly come as a surprise if Chelsea were to add a player this late in the window.
