Chelsea have been given a major boost in their pursuit of Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, with the Nigeria international eager to move to the Premier League.

Osimhen is one of the most in-demand forwards in world football currently as Paris Saint-Germain are vying with Chelsea to secure his services.

The Blues had drawn up a list of alternatives should they fail to sign Osimhen, but reports now indicate that the striker would prefer to move to the Premier League rather than transfer to the French capital.

The 25-year-old has already played in Ligue 1 with Lille before moving to Napoli in 2020 and is looking for a new experience when he makes his next transfer.

Osimhen to the Premier League

"Victor Osimhen would prefer the Premier League over other European leagues for his next experience," Italian football journalist Rudy Galetti wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Galetti also indicated that PSG have other players on their agenda at the moment, with AC Milan winger Rafael Leao one of their top targets as they look to replace Kylian Mbappe.

Galetti continued: "Chelsea consider the Nigerian striker their top target and are ready to speed things up for him.

"PSG interested, but to date they have other priorities, such as Leao."

This news will be a huge boost for Chelsea as Mauricio Pochettino's side look to bring in a more reliable striker than Nicolas Jackson.

Despite playing over 2,000 minutes this season, Jackson still has just nine goals for the Blues, a disappointing return on the €37 million investment they made in the 22-year-old striker.

With Osimhen's heart set on the Premier League, Chelsea are undoubtedly in pole position to secure his signature, especially after Arsenal pulled out of the race for the striker - news exclusively revealed by FootballTransfers in December.
