However, it is unlikely that the Bergamo club will cooperate on a transfer this winter. Liverpool are nevertheless said to be considering submitting a 'monster offer' of €45 million to the Italian side.

Koopmeiners can play in a defensive and attacking role in midfield and is praised for his 'dynamic play' and 'physical and technical qualities.' This season, the 20-time Dutch international with two goals to his name has featured in 26 games, scoring seven times and providing four assists.

Liverpool face Koopmeiners competition

The 25-year-old Koopmeiners is also being courted by Juventus, Tuttosport previously reported. The Bianconeri want to add a central midfielder to the selection this month amid the ongoing uncertainty about Paul Pogba's future.

According to the Italian newspaper, the Italian giants have switched their attention to Koopmeiners after missing out on former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, who has signed with Ajax.

Coach Massimiliano Allegri is said to be very charmed by the qualities of the former AZ player. Tuttosport also reported that Atalanta have set an asking price of €48m for Koopmeiners, who is under contract at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia until 2027.

Liverpool's supposed offer would therefore approach the Dutchman's price tag. Koopmeiner's current Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) stands at €31m.

The Reds were also recently linked with a move for his midfield partner Ederson. The Brazilian is a more defensive-minded player and would perhaps suit the Reds' midfield more than another playmaker such as Koopmeiners.
