Liverpool star Harvey Elliott says that he is not happy with his role as a super sub under Jurgen Klopp.

The 20-year-old has played 13 Premier League matches this season but only has a single start to his credit and he has now explained that he wants to use his opportunities in the Europa League as a springboard to more.

Elliott has certainly gone about demanding more first-team opportunities in a positive fashion in recent days, with his dramatic winner against Crystal Palace firing Jurgen Klopp’s side to the top of the Premier League title. And it is opportunities like that he craves.

"For me, I don't really want to be known as a super sub," he told a press conference on Wednesday. "It's a great headline as well, it's a nice one, but at the same time I want to be in the team.

"It's time for me to establish myself in that position again and hopefully get a good run of games. At the same time, I need to be patient as well and maybe be the super sub at the moment.

"I just need to keep enjoying my football, keep playing with a smile and if it is 'super sub', fine. I'll happily come on and do whatever I can for the team. I'm just happy to be putting the shirt on but yeah, this season I really want to kick on my game."

Once close to signing for Real Madrid, how worried should Klopp be about losing this diamond?

Elliott’s only better option than Liverpool

According to data analytics firm SciSports, Elliott, who has an Estimated Transfer Value of €35 million, has the potential to become a key player at Liverpool, with his game having developed steadily over the course of the last six months.

And the good news for Klopp is that the model of the experts shows that Liverpool is almost the ideal club for Elliott to hone his skills.

The Career Advice tool of SciSports shows that Liverpool boast an impressive Club Fit score of 83 for the youngster, with this based around various factors, including potential development, playing time and playing style.

Only one team is seen as a better fit for Elliott if a reckoning did come and he decided he would be better off leaving Anfield. Jose Mourinho’s Roma are seen as a marginally better option, with greater scope for development and playing time than he currently enjoys.

Otherwise, Elliott is clearly better off staying patient and fighting for his place at Liverpool, who would surely be reticent to sell such an exciting talent in any case.
