Real Madrid’s indecisiveness regarding a move for Kylian Mbappe has opened the door for a move to the Premier League, with Liverpool and Chelsea seen as the front-runners.

Mbappe, 24, has been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu for several years and was on the verge of joining Los Blancos before he signed a contract extension at Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

The France international has told his current club that he will not sign another new deal, however, and will instead leave on a free transfer in 2024. It remains to be seen if he keeps his word, but it’s likely that Mbappe will be on the market next year.

As a result, Europe’s elite clubs are beginning to prepare for the possibility of signing Mbappe. Spanish outlet Cadena Ser have reported that Real Madrid have pulled out of the race to sign the Frenchman, although other sources have indicated this is not the case.

Mbappe to the Premier League?

FourFourTwo have revealed that Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle United are all in the running for PSG star Mbappe.

In addition, CaughtOffside have stated that “both Liverpool and Chelsea would appear to be in pole position.

“Man United are still struggling domestically and in Europe and are hardly an appealing proposition for a player with Mbappe’s ambitions.

“Newcastle would surely be able to afford the player’s demands, but Eddie Howe has been keen to ensure that the equilibrium of his dressing room remains.”

Mbappe has scored 12 goals and provided one assist in 14 games for PSG this season, but he was unable to prevent a 2-1 defeat to AC Milan in midweek. In fact, during both of PSG’s losses in the Champions League this campaign (Newcastle and Milan), Mbappe has failed to score or assist.

He did score a brace in PSG’s only Ligue 1 defeat of the campaign, however - a 3-2 loss to OGC Nice.
