Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in the history of English and European football, but they endured a decades-long title drought in the Premier League in the 2000s, 2010s and 2020s.

In May 2026, Mikel Arteta finally managed to get the Gunners over the line, ending a 22-year wait for the biggest trophy in English football.

Arsenal, who had led the table for much of the season, pipped Man City to the title after the Etihad club only mustered a 1-1 draw away at Bournemouth on 19 May, a day after Arteta's men had ground out a 1-0 win over Burnley.

In the six years prior to this triumph, Arsenal had repeatedly failed to win a major trophy, coming close several times.
