Is Jadon Sancho’s Man Utd career over? Fabrizio Romano explains

Fabrizio Romano believes that Jadon Sancho’s career at Manchester United is not necessarily over.

Sancho has hit the headlines over the last week after a very public row with his manager Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag left Sancho out of his 18-man squad for the Premier League match against Arsenal last week.

When asked after the 3-1 defeat about why the Englishman was not picked, Ten Hag said: “Jadon wasn’t picked [today] on his performance in training. You have to reach the level every day at Manchester United. That’s why in this game he wasn't selected.”

This prompted an angry reaction from Sancho immediately after on social media as he denied Ten Hag’s accusations.

What did Sancho say?

The statement Sancho issued read: "Please don't believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week. I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won't go into, I've been a scapegoat for a long time which isn't fair!

"All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team. I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and am grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge. I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!"

There are now many people who believe that Sancho may never play again for United, and the winger has been linked with a January return to his former club Borussia Dortmund.

Romano, though, believes his Man Utd career can still be salvaged ahead of expected talks between the pair this week.

“Staying with United, I want to clarify again, because there is now so much being reported about Jadon Sancho, that I think there is a way back for him at Old Trafford,” Romano wrote on CaughtOffside.

“Let’s see how the conversation between Sancho and Erik ten Hag will go. We just need to wait now, there’s no significant change, and it remains the case that Man United were simply not happy with his approach in training last week – there is nothing else to say in terms of concerns about his mentality or personality on club side.”

Sancho has had a disastrous time at Man Utd since his €85 million move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021.

The 22-year-old has scored just 12 goals in a total of 82 appearances for the Red Devils since joining.

Sancho has disappointed under three managers at Man Utd; Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ralf Rangnick and then Erik ten Hag.
