Liverpool receive unexpected transfer windfall worth MILLIONS

Liverpool are set to profit from a transfer they had nothing to do with, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Polish goalkeeper Kamil Grabara joined the Reds as a teenager for £250,000 in 2016 but could not consistently break into the first team at Anfield. After loans to Denmark and the Championship, he completed a permanent move to Danish giants FC Kobenhavn.

In the Danish capital, Grabara has been given a real chance to show off his talents. In fact, he impressed so much that Danish outlet Tipsbladet named him the Goalkeeper of the Year for 2022.

Having carried his form over into 2023, Grabara has now sealed a big move and Liverpool are set to profit from it.

Reds receive windfall

Off the back of his performances in Copenhagen, the shot-stopper has now earned himself a move to Bundesliga side Wolfsburg. Given that the German transfer window is already closed, he will join the Wolves next summer, though they do have the option to already bring him to Northern Germany in January.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool included a 20 per cent sell-on clause in his deal when he signed for Kobenhavn, which means that they are entitled to €2.7 million of the €6.7m transfer fee Wolfsburg paid for his services.

In Germany, Grabara will join an ambitious project under former Bayern boss Niko Kovac. This summer, the Wolves splashed some €71m on new transfers, including €25m - a lot by Bundesliga standards - on the heir to Luka Modric, Lovro Majer from Stade Rennais.

Wolfsburg also snapped up Danish international Joakim Maehle who recently made headlines for not holding back when talking about his ex-Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini.

The German side may still be familiar to Reds fans as the former loan club of cult hero Divock Origi, who spent some time with Wolfsburg when they were battling relegation.
