Chelsea target Ivan Toney would become the Blues' best signing since Todd Boehly took over from Roman Abramovich last year.

In that time, the Blues have spent over £1 billion in just three windows under their new owners.

An astounding 26 players have been brought to Stamford Bridge, but Toney will easily become the most important if he signs from Brentford in January.

The west London club have signed several players that have underwhelmed so far, such as Mykhailo Mudryk and Marc Cucurella, though there are others who do look to be great buys.

Enzo Fernandez may have been expensive at over £100m, but he is currently the pick of the bunch after continuing to impress in a poor Chelsea team in 2023.

Meanwhile, the likes of Benoit Badiashile and Malo Gusto have also proven to be shrewd pieces of business.

That said, none of them have helped to fix Chelsea's biggest problem - their lack of goals.

In September, Mauricio Pochettino's side recorded an xG of 5.5, with 12 shots on target, yet haven't been able to score a single goal.

Summer signing Nicolas Jackson was meant to be the man to address this issue but he has been the most wasteful player of them all - epitomised by his shocking miss against Nottingham Forest.

And, 22-year-old Armando Broja, returning from a long-term knee injury, can't be expected to perform much better.

A 27-year-old England international with 20 Premier League goals in the 2022-23 season can, however.

A proven goalscorer with an all-round game to boot, Toney would catapult Chelsea from relegation battling strugglers to European football hopefuls.

After all, besides putting the ball in the back of the net - albeit the most crucial aspect of the game - the Blues are genuinely quite good.
