Kai Havertz has endured a difficult start to life at Arsenal following his €75 million transfer from Chelsea, and Twitter users have taken to the platform to criticise his performance against Manchester United.

The Germany international missed a guilt-edged chance in the first-half, in which he failed to make proper contact with the ball, gave the ball away for Marcus Rashford's opener and was adjudged to make dived for a second-half penalty by VAR. He was replaced in the 76th minute.

Mikel Arteta has persisted with using Havertz in a left central midfield role, with the former Chelsea man replacing Granit Xhaka's position in the starting XI following the Swiss' move to Bayer Leverkusen.

The 24-year-old played mostly as a striker at Chelsea, but has been utilised in a deeper role so far at the Emirates.

Arteta recently publicly backed Havertz, stating in an interview: "The people who love the club and love our players, give him love." However, the former Leverkusen star has faced serious backlash on social media following his start to life at Arsenal.

That continued thanks to his display against Erik ten Hag's Man Utd.
