The Glazers haven’t sold Manchester United because no one has hit their asking price yet.

The takeover saga has rumbled on and so far no preferred bidder has been named by the club which was put up for sale in November last year.

The UK-based petrochemicals conglomerate INEOS and the Nine Two Foundation recently set up by Qatari royal Sheikh Jassim are at the table and have made their fifth bids, but so far both parties have not been informed about where the stage is up to and if their bids have been accepted.

And, indeed, this is because the Glazers are still rooting for further money.

The process has disrupted the transfer window for Erik ten Hag, who has set his sits on an overhaul.

Jassim's Premier League interest

It comes after the news that Sheikh Jassim might make a move for Tottenham or West Ham if his bid for the Red Devils is unsuccessful.

Jassim's offer is that of a full takeover, with a separate fund to redevelop Old Trafford and the surrounding area, while Ratcliffe's bid would see the Glazers still involved with a minority shareholding.

It is thought the Glazer siblings are in disagreement about whom to sell to, but Jassim has been tipped to move on quickly should Ratcliffe win out.

"If [Sheiklh Jassim's bid] is rejected, then Qatar's interest in the Premier League - I assume - will move somewhere else," said BBC Sport football reporter Simon Stone.

"So that could be a Tottenham. It's been spoken about before: they've got the location, got the stadium, got the training ground. It could be a West Ham. It could be anybody."
