Liverpool are reportedly closing on the signings of two Ligue 1 stars in Kylian Mbappe and Jeremy Doku, and although Mbappe hasn't discussed his own future, he has had his say about Rennes star Doku.

According to Marca, Liverpool are ready to offer Paris Saint-Germain €250 up front with a further €50 in add-ons for Mbappe's services with his current employers desperate to cash in this summer rather than lose him on a free to Real Madrid next.

The veracity of those reports remains to be seen, but Liverpool's pursuit in Doku could be more realistic after Mohamed Taboucje-Ter, as relayed by GFFN, claimed "their interest is serious."

Doku, a flying winger who is still just 21, had six goals and two assists for Rennes in Ligue 1 last season and is valued at a significantly more affordable €16.8m per FootballTransfers' in-house algorithm.

Liverpool would be getting steal as far as Mbappe is concerned.

Mbappe 'I've never seen such power'

"Recently, I was speaking with my father about a player who impressed me because of his speed qualities, and that's Doku at Rennes," he said in June 2021. "In five years as a professional, I've never seen someone from a standing start demonstrate so much power."

Doku is indeed a physical specimen, and the above goal and assist stats perhaps don't do the Belgian youngster justice. Doku has averaged seven successful take-ons and six shot-creating actions over the last year, which is more than any other winger in Europe's five major leagues.

Now a full Belgium international alongside Kevin de Bruyne, Doku has impressed the Manchester City midfielder too.

"He's nimble, fast and he can dribble," De Bruyne said after Doku scored his first international goal. "Of course, he sometimes makes a mistake, but who doesn't? He's a diamond in the rough."
