Arsenal were guilty of an embarrassing transfer blunder on Tuesday evening as they accidentally posted two stories confirming Kai Havertz as a Gunner.

Two stories appeared on the app overnight before being taken down. The first was a news story confirming Kai Havertz had signed for Arsenal, while the second was the German’s first official interview with the club.

Havertz’s transfer to Arsenal from Chelsea in a £65 million deal is now common knowledge and the transfer is expected to become official this week.

But whether it was a glitch or an error by an Arsenal employee, these stories were not intended to go up on the app.

Arsenal’s surprise move for Havertz

Arsenal’s move for Havertz has come as something of a surprise as the Germany international has largely struggled ever since arriving in the Premier League.

Although he scored the winner in the 2021 Champions League final against Manchester City, Havertz has failed to live up to his billing at Chelsea after his £71m move from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021.

Arsenal are very active in the transfer market currently. They have just tabled a third bid of £100m plus €5m in add-ons to sign Declan Rice from West Ham.

They are also in negotiations to sign Ajax defender Jurrien Timber and are set to make a second bid for the player.

FootballTransfers revealed last week that Arsenal are in positive talks with Kieran Tierney to keep the defender at the club.

We also revealed that Arsenal are keen on signing Romeo Lavia from Southampton but have been overtaken in the race by Chelsea and Liverpool due to delays with both Rice and the sale of Thomas Partey.
