The English coach has consequently landed himself in hot water with some fans - with the result putting him in the firing line still further.

And the appearance of Hansi Flick did not help matters. The German national side manager was seen in the stands during the Premier League contest, setting off a frenzy online from Blues supporters.

However, the former Bayern Munich boss only just recently signed a fresh deal representing his country. Flick confirmed the news after a crisis meeting with the DFB (German football federation).

"My coaching staff and I are optimistic regarding the European Championship in our own country,” Flick said in a statement published by the DFB. “As a team, we can achieve a lot more than we showed in Qatar. We missed a great opportunity there. We will learn our lessons from that."

Flick's accolades

Flick has won two Bundesliga titles with the German giants, as well as the Champions League, which he won in 2019-20 season.

His achievements that year earned him the UEFA Men's Coach of the Year for that season.
