Now, there is hope this form can continue for the rest of the season and Manchester United can complete a return to the Champions League ahead of next season.

The manager has been successful with his signings thus far, and he wants to add more players from the Eredivisie to improve his squad in the near future.

Man Utd target Eredivisie again

Ten Hag has signed three players from the Eredivisie to his squad: Lisandro Martinez and Antony from his former club, Ajax, as well as Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord, while Christian Eriksen also has prior Dutch league experience.

He has now reportedly instructed his scouts to look at more Dutch-based talent including Ajax’s Jurrien Timber, Deyne Rensch and Kenneth Taylor as well as PSV’s Joey Veerman and AZ’s Jesper Karlsson.

Many of these players were targeted by the club over the summer – particularly Timber, of whom Ten Hag is a big fan.

Over the summer, Manchester United pushed for the signing of Timber, but the defender refused and chose to continue his development at Ajax, as he wished to keep his place in the Dutch national team for the World Cup.

Timber was given his Ajax debut by Ten Hag when the defender was emerging at the club in 2020 and has often spoken highly of his talents and potential.

Last season, Timber was named as the club’s Young Player of the Season as he formed a solid partnership with Martinez at the heart of the Ajax defence.

Things haven’t been quite as rosy since, but the potential in Timber is still immense and while Ajax will be reluctant to sell in the winter, a summer sale is a real possibility.

What’s clear is that the Dutch approach is working for Manchester United, and they’ll be looking to continue in that vein in the near future with several names being targeted.
