Klopp has 'no intention of resigning from Liverpool' says his agent

Liverpool may have got off to their worst Premier League start of the Premier League era, but the manager has no intention of leaving before his contract expires in 2026.

Klopp has won both the Premier League and Champions League during his seven-year stay at Anfield, but the current campaign has been far from ideal so far, with Saturday's 2-1 loss to Leeds leaving them 15 points off Arsenal's league-setting pace.

Accordingly, #KloppOut has exploded as a hashtag on Twitter in recent weeks, with significant column inches given to the notion that Klopp's teams have a seven-year cycle, the German having previously left Borussia Dortmund and Mainz after the same period.

But Klopp has consistently maintained that he remains dedicated to the project at Liverpool, and that he is the right man to turn them around, and now his agent Marc Kosicke has leapt to his defence.

What did his agent say?

"I can assure that Jurgen Klopp has no intention of resigning from Liverpool FC," he told Sky Germany per Florian Plettenberg. "The fact that problems could arise this season due to the past intensive season was taken into account by the club's owners before the start of the season.

"Jurgen enjoys the backing of the people in charge and is in regular contact with them. He loves the club, his team and the fans and is determined to continue and successfully complete the transition in Liverpool.

"He didn't extend his contract until 2026 for nothing."

Klopp sympathists point to the fact that first-team regulars such as Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson, Thiago and Bobby Firmino are all 30 or older, and that Klopp hasn't been sufficiently backed by the owners FSG when it comes to rejuvenating the squad.

They sanctioned the €100 million acquisition of Darwin Nunez from Benfica this summer, though. Six goals in 14 games later and the dury remains out on the Uruguayan, as it does with Klopp.
