Arsenal are close to completing the signing of Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko following weeks of discussions between the two clubs.

The Gunners have been looking to add another midfielder to their ranks, and feel Zinchenko fits that mould, with the club maintaining a desire to play him higher up the pitch.

With the move, it would be the second transfer completed between Manchester City and Arsenal this summer, following Gabriel Jesus’ move to the Emirates Stadium earlier in the window.

Arsenal, though, are paying a big fee to secure the services of the Ukrainian, being one of their bigger purchases of the summer transfer window.

How much are Arsenal paying for Zinchenko?

Mikel Arteta’s side are forking out a fixed £30 million fee, with a potential £2 million in add-ons later on, and giving Zinchenko a four-year contract at the Emirates Stadium.

Zinchenko has been an important part of Pep Guardiola’s set-up at the Etihad Stadium, but most of his playing time has come at left-back, a role he adopted under the Catalan coach.

He started off playing as a winger, and currently occupies a midfield position for the Ukraine national team – a role which he excels in, as seen from his recent performances in World Cup qualifiers.

Zinchenko wishes to have more time in midfield, which is why he’s making a move to the Emirates Stadium, as conversations with Arteta have guaranteed him that role.

The 25-year-old is set to have a medical with the Gunners this week in order to complete the move, having already agreed personal terms with them previously.

Zinchenko signed for City in 2016, becoming was one of Guardiola’s first signings at the club, and in that time, he has made 128 appearances for them, scoring two goals.

He has also won four Premier League titles, one FA Cup, four League Cups and was a part of the side that reached the Champions League final in 2020, which he started in a losing effort against Chelsea.
