Arsenal’s signing of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City has generated a great deal of excitement around the Emirates club.

The Gunners were without a prolific striker last season and have since released Alexandre Lacazette following the expiration of his contract.

Although Jesus does not arrive with a reputation for being a prolific scorer, there is nevertheless the expectation that he will provide a perfect outlet for his new team following a move that is worth an estimated £45 million (€52m).

Certainly, there are elevated expectations of the Brazil international forward among Arsenal fans, who are eager to see their side back in the Champions League, having missed out so frustratingly again on the top four this term.

Meanwhile, it was not lost on fans that his name could cause some confusion as he becomes the third prominent Gabriel in the squad.

And, of course, there were the inevitable religious comparisons.

But not everyone was happy, with this deal taking an age to get over the line.

Despite the pockets of negativity – most of which was not to be taken seriously – Arsenal fans are delighted with the capture of Gabriel Jesus.
