Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he’s “concerned” by the imminent arrival of Ralf Rangnick at Manchester United.

Both managers crossed paths numerous times in the German Bundesliga, where each developed their own version of the Gegenpressing style of play.

Where Klopp went on to notable success with Mainz and Borussia Dortmund before joining Liverpool, Rangnick had an impressive spell at Hoffenheim before taking charge of RB Leipzig.

As such, Klopp has a huge amount of respect for the former Hoffenheim boss and is now quite concerned that Man Utd will look far better in the second half of the season.

'He is highly regarded with other coaches'

“It’s a bit tricky, we usually don’t talk until they are confirmed,” said Klopp at a press conference on Friday, when asked about reports linking Rangnick to Man Utd.

"He's obviously a really experienced manager, who famously built two clubs from nowhere to proper forces in Germany.

“The first concern is always a coach and that is what he is. Man Utd will be organised."

He added: "He is highly regarded with the coaches. Where he has been he has done incredible jobs. He started as a young man at Stuttgart and then made his way up.

“I faced him when I was a young coach. He might have forgotten that, but he called me a lot at Mainz.”

Tuchel reacts to Rangnick rumours

Another high profile manager in Thomas Tuchel was asked about the appointment of Rangnick.

The expected Man Utd boss hired Tuchel to be a youth coach at Stuttgart, and Tuchel views him as a mentor.

When asked about Rangnick potentially becoming Man Utd manager, he said:

"He helped me a lot because he was my coach and then one of the main figures to convince me to try coaching. He was a huge influence on all of us at this time because he showed us it's not important to follow people to the toilet in games, people felt defenders followed the strikers in games.

"Before I get carried away and talk too much, he isn't appointed yet. So let's respect everybody."
