Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that he is under pressure as manager of Manchester United.

Solskjaer has faced heavy criticism following a dismal performance at the weekend as United lost 4-2 to Leicester City in the Premier League.

This result means that United have now won just two of their last seven matches in all competitions, losing four of those games during that time.

There has been calls from fans for Ole to be relieved of his duties if United are ever going to realistically challenge for a major title.

But the manager himself is staying calm, even if he admits that he is under pressure.

What did Solskjaer say?

“We've progressed over the years. Sixth in half season, third, second. You can see the progress,” Solskjaer said at a press conference ahead of the Champions League match with Atalanta.

"We have signed players which have raised expectations but we are in same boat as other top teams. Pressure on me of course but we have been through this before.

"I am in dialogue with club all the time, it is an open and honest discussion.

"Every team will go through a patchy period, we are in one now, we know that.

"The coaching staff we have got is absolutely amazing, the attention to detail, training sessions, preparations. I don't think I could ask for better.

"They are Manchester United people with intention of helping the team grow."

Solskjaer also defended attacker Marcus Rashford, who was sitting alongside him in Tuesday’s press conference.

Ole had remarked ahead of the Leicester game that Rashford “needs to prioritise his football” having spent a lot of time away from the pitch focusing on his charity and community work.

“Get the elephant out of the room straight away, you know the headline which came before the Leicester game,” Solskjaer said.

"We are so proud of what Marcus has done on and off the pitch. You made the headline off one little comment."
