Man Utd Transfer News Today: Amorim January plan CONFIRMED, Osimhen SWAP, Cunha BOMB
All the latest Manchester United transfer news, rumours and gossip, with Ruben Amorim’s January plans revealed, a potential swap deal for Victor Osimhen and the latest on Matheus Cunha.
Who will Man Utd sign in the January transfer window?
Ruben Amorim has revealed his January transfer plans for Man Utd – and it could be a surprisingly quiet month for the Old Trafford side.
According to Sky Sports, the Portuguese head coach has not made any requests for signings.
“Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim's focus at Old Trafford, remains on working with and developing, the current squad of players,” it reports.
Amorim had been linked with a string of players from Sporting CP, his former club, including winger Geovany Quenda and striker Viktor Gyokeres.
Meanwhile, Benfica’s promising centre-back Tomas Araujo is another talent that United were said to be plotting a January move for.
Of course, this could be a ploy from the club to put out the message that they are not desperate to sign in the forthcoming window, potentially acting as a negotiating target in a bid to keep expectations of selling clubs low.
Zirkzee used as Osimhen makeweight
Victor Osimhen is a striker who has long been linked with Man Utd, and even if these rumours have not been as strong as for other Premier League sides, notably Chelsea and Arsenal, all that could be about to change.
Il Mattino reports that Man Utd are ready to make a play for the Napoli hitman, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray for the season.
Man Utd are reportedly aiming to pay €40 million plus Zirkzee to sign Osimhen next summer, although it remains to be seen if Napoli will accept such a deal.
The Serie A club wanted around €120-130m for Osimhen in 2024 but will slash that figure in a bid to get him off their books next summer. It is thought they want €75m, but the indications are that they want that full amount paid in cash.
O’Neil reacts to Cunha interest
Matheus Cunha had been linked with Man Utd in January, but Wolves manager Gary O’Neil has wholeheartedly knocked back these claims.
Speaking ahead of a Premier League clash with Bournemouth, the Molineux boss said: “Matheus won't leave in January, definitely not... Zero concern on my part.
“I want him to play as well as possible and I want everyone in the world to want him.”
Cunha’s contract at Wolves is due to expire in June 2027 while he has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €25.5m.
Man Utd meet with Jorge Mendes over Quenda
Manchester United are in talks with superagent Jorge Mendes over the potential signing of Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP.
The Manchester Evening News reports that half of the rights of the 17-year-old have been bought by Mendes, who is negotiating a potential transfer on behalf of agent Igor Campedelli.
No formal bid has been lodged by the Red Devils for the winger, meanwhile.
Quenda has lit up Portugal this season, with two goals and an assist in 20 appearances for Sporting in what is his debut season.
