The Reds are reported to be be planning to sign a top winger this summer and they have been fans of Chiesa for a number of years now.

Chiesa can play on both wings so could replace the underperforming Luis Diaz on the left or be a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah on the right.

Will Juventus sell Chiesa?

The feeling is that Juventus will sell Chiesa at the right price this summer if he does not agree on a new contract with the club.

Chiesa’s contract expires in 2025, and contract talks are making slow headway.

Juventus are unwilling to match Chiesa’s demands of €7 million per season due to his constant injuries.

He missed most of 2022 with an ACL injury and has suffered 10 different physical problems in the last 18 months after returning.

Chiesa has yet to return to the levels that saw him exploded as one of Europe’s best wingers at Euro 2020, and this is another reason Juventus are reluctant to give him a big contract.

Chiesa has scored just eight goals and provided two assists in Serie A this season from 32 games.

From Chiesa’s point of view, the player stated last week that he wishes to sign a new contract at the club.

Chiesa’s desire to stay has been boosted by the sacking of Max Allegri, who the winger did not see eye to eye with.

The Italian was very unhappy playing under Allegri, who had been deploying Chiesa in a position he detests.

Chiesa sees himself as a winger but Allegri had been playing him as a central attacker in a 3-5-2 for the last two seasons.

The ex-Fiorentina man does not want to play another season as a central attacker and was set to ask to leave if these were the plans for 2024-25.

Chiesa did not want to play another season under Allegri, but his departure has now removed that problem.

The future of the wideman, who speaks fluent English, should become much clearer over the next few weeks.
