Ajax target Graham Potter is also a candidate for the soon-to-be-vacant job at Feyenoord, according to Dutch media.

De Telegraaf journalist Marcel van der Kraan reports that both Potter and Shakhtar Donetsk coach Marino Pusic are 'very much in the picture' to succeed Arne Slot at the Rotterdam club.

Slot, of course, is on his way to Liverpool to succeed Jurgen Klopp. The Reds are reportedly set to shell out €13 million to €15m to land the Dutch tactician, who was being linked with a switch to Tottenham last year.

Van der Kraan states that Potter 'has a greater chance of going to Feyenoord than to Ajax.' The Englishman is said to have reservations about a move to Ajax, as the organisation is currently in disarray and has been all season.

Potter is reluctant to take on another job like this after his time at Chelsea, which ended in a complete debacle. "His next step must be at a club that is absolutely ideal in his eyes. That is Feyenoord," said Van der Kraan.

Potter to the Eredivisie?

Potter was appointed Chelsea manager on September 8, 2022, following the dismissal of Thomas Tuchel. However, he was unable to get the London club back on track and on February 18 it was decided to let the 48-year-old go. The former coach of Brighton and Swansea City has been without a job since.

As mentioned, Potter has also been frequently linked to Ajax in recent months. The Amsterdam club are looking for a replacement for John van 't Schip, who wants to continue in a different role at Ajax after this season.

However, the Englishman rejected the first offer from the Amsterdam club because it did not meet his requirements. Ajax are now said to have submitted a second proposal. The biggest danger from Feyenoord's perspective is that Potter has also been mentioned at Man Utd, where Erik ten Hag is under heavy pressure.

"He has managed a club abroad before, in Sweden [Ostersunds], so he is not afraid to go abroad," Van der Kraan says. "But if he becomes one of the real candidates at Man Utd and Ten Hag leaves, I think Potter would rather go to Man Utd."
