Rangers are hoping to beat the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham to the signing of a Nigerian wonderkid who has drawn comparisons to Lamine Yamal with his potential.

The Scottish giants are looking to bounce back and begin a new era under Danny Rohl after a disastrous start to the season which saw Russell Martin sacked last month after just four months in charge.

Rangers currently sit fourth in the Scottish Premiership and they are already pushing forward with plans for the January transfer window in order to ensure they don’t finish outside of the top two in the league for the first time since 2018.

One name on their list is believed to be Sani Suleiman, who currently plays for Slovakian side Trencin, and the 19-year-old was recently named as one of the top ten under-20 players in the world for successful dribbles and progressive carries by the CIES Football Observatory.

Suleiman was sixth on the list behind players such as Yamal and, according to journalist Rudy Galetti, the winger is now being tracked by some of Europe’s elite clubs, with Rangers among the pack.

The Nigerian under-20 international has been a revelation for Trencin and they have an option to keep Suleiman until 2028, with Rangers monitoring the situation in the hopes of positioning themselves ahead of the competition.

Solskjaer admits Rangers approach for manager job

Rohl has won three of his six games in charge since his appointment but the 36-year-old was not Rangers’ first choice for the job, having seen options such as Kevin Muscat among others rule themselves out of the race.

One manager who was strongly linked with the role was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but the ex-Manchester United boss revealed he had not held formal talks over the job despite speculation.

“I didn't speak to them, no." Solskjaer said on the The Overlap’s Stick to Football show, when asked about links to Rangers. "I didn't speak to them – well, I personally didn't.

“They called my agent, as you say, and my agent rings whenever there's interest – he's my best mate, to put it that way – and we end up talking.

"I'm open. It's not like I'm desperate to be back in but, yeah, I can be."
