Paris Saint-Germain were reportedly willing to sell Kylian Mbappe over the summer if their valuation of the striker had been met.

Mbappe's future has dominated transfer speculation around Parc des Princes for the past two transfer windows, as he has been constantly linked with a move to Real Madrid.

So far, though, Madrid's efforts to sign the star have been thwarted, as he first signed a lucrative new contract and then, this summer, decided to stay on for at least another season.

According to French journalist Abdellah Boulma, however, Mbappe did have his price.

How much would Mbappe have cost Madrid?

The reporter claims that PSG were prepared to let the forward move if their asking price of €150 million was met by Madrid or any other suitor.

The club eventually went through a change of heart when Mbappe gave up his claim on loyalty bonuses totalling €100m in order to stay in the French capital, leaving Madrid once more without their top transfer target.

This is unlikely to be the last we have heard on the matter, though.

The star is out of contract at the end of the current season after declining to exercise the option to extend his deal a further year and, as things stand, will be a free agent in less than a year.

Mbappe has made a typically explosive start to 2023-24, netting eight times in as many games in all competitions.

PSG, however, have been comparatively sluggish out of the blocks. The reigning Ligue 1 champions currently lie fifth after winning just three of their first seven games, and in Europe suffered a bruising Champions League defeat at the hands of Newcastle United which raised further questions over the state of the team.
