Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly slashed their asking price for Brazilian star Neymar as they look to shift him off their books.

The Parisians signed Neymar for a world-record fee of €222 million from Barcelona back in 2017, but are now willing to listen to offers close to €150m less than the amount they spent on him.

Now 30, Neymar has 157 goal contributions in just 141 games for PSG, but has ultimately failed to deliver the Champions League trophy to Paris, which was the reason he was signed.

The biggest prize in European club football still eludes PSG and their failure to win the competition is a reflection of Neymar's time at the club.

It's approaching five years since he joined the Parisians, but 24 separate injuries has seen him 100 games since he arrived. He's also crucially missed several knockout ties in the Champions League and this has angered the PSG hierarchy.

How much would PSG sell Neymar for?

With his contract not due to expire until 2025, with an option of a further year, it was expected that Neymar would remain at the club. In fact, following PSG winning the Ligue 1 title, the Brazilian hit back at the fans who've jeered him since their European exit to Real Madrid. "They're going to get tired of whistling, because I have another three years left on my contract," he said.

However, the Daily Star have reported that PSG are willing to let Neymar leave for a fee of around €90m this summer in an attempt to shift him from their books.

Not only was Neymar signed for a world-record fee, but he also handed big wages and with performances not deemed up to scratch, PSG are ready to listen to offers.

With 12 trophies at PSG, Neymar has enjoyed a successful spell in France, but reports in France suggest the club could endure a summer rebuild this year. Kylian Mbappe could yet leave and several more players could join him in departing the club.

Neymar might be one of them, although €90m still represents a lot of money for someone the wrong side of 30 and with known injury problems.
