Arsenal and Man City monitoring Neuer's Bayern contract situation

Manuel Neuer’s future at Bayern Munich could be in doubt with both sides struggling to come to an agreement over a new deal, putting the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City on red alert.

The German is entering the final year of his deal in Munich and is set to consider other options before deciding whether to commit to a new contract.

Bayern are only willing to offer Neuer a one-year extension however the 36-year-old believes he justifies a longer deal as his position means he is less reliant on physical ability.

Neuer also wants assurances about the side being strong enough to compete for the Champions League and is reluctant to commit to any deal until then.

Could Neuer leave Bayern?

Both sides remain cool over the stall in negotiations and Neuer insisted recently that there was ‘all the time in the world’ to come to a conclusion.

With the ex-Schalke keeper still having a year left on his contract and Bayern not looking to sell, any deal could require a substantial fee.

While no sides have yet to formally make a bid, clubs such as Manchester City and Chelsea are rumoured to be monitoring the situation.

Although neither club is prioritising a goalkeeper, Neuer’s record of 27 trophies in his 11 years at Bayern would be tough to turn down should he become available.

And with the World Cup winner still looking to continue playing at the highest level for both club and country, any concrete approach would be strongly considered.

Arsenal, Juventus and Tottenham are also rumoured to be assessing their goalkeeping options and could be willing to offer the terms that Neuer is seeking.

However, with talismanic striker Robert Lewandowski set to leave the Allianz Arena this summer and Neuer not pushing for a move, it’s likely that any resolution could go into the new season.
