Jordi Alba denies Barcelona contract reduction

Jordi Alba has revealed he will be willing to lower his salary to help Barcelona meet strict La Liga financial rules.

The left-back blasted recent media reports as ‘lies’ and stated that he would be willing to change roles to help his club, even if that means taking a salary reduction.

He told Spanish outlet Marca: "Many lies have been told in the press, but in the end, I have always been there, no one can say otherwise.

He continued: "There are things that hurt, but you have to know how to live with it. I know my truth and I am very calm. My intention is to help the club and that both parties are happy."

"The day I feel that I am not capable of defending a club like Barcelona, ​​I will be the first to leave.”

Alba has lost his place in the starting XI to Alejandro Balde, making just nine La Liga starts so far this season.

The 33-year-old's contract runs until the end of next season and there is no indication yet as to whether the side would be willing to offer the Spanaird fresh terms at the Nou Camp
