Barcelona to BREAK agreement in transfer window to fix worrying problem
Barcelona are ready to take action in the January transfer window to find a solution to a problem that is a source of frustration for them.
The Catalan club are concerned about the development of Ansu Fati at Monaco and want to bring the Spain international back from his loan deal.
On the face of things, Fati has performed well at Monaco since overcoming an injury that saw him initially struggle to make an impact. The 23-year-old has scored six goals in 11 appearances.
Things have changed at Monaco in recent weeks, though. Head coach Adi Hutter was sacked and in his place Sebastien Pocognoli has taken charge – and Fati has not had an easy ride under the new boss.
The Spain winger has failed to start any of the last three Ligue 1 matches, with the player’s relationship with his new manager apparently strained.
When replaced in the Belgian’s first match in charge against Angers, Fati departed the field in an angry manner, not even looking at his boss, who is far stricter about out-of-possession work than his predecessor. While the coach played it down, it seems to have set the tone for the relationship between the two.
Barcelona ready for Ansu Fati transfer battle
Monaco have an option to buy Ansu for €11 million, but Marca claims that Barcelona are ready to break the loan agreement in January.
It is claimed that another loan deal could be considered as the Catalans want the player to receive more playing time.
Fati is expected to meet with Barcelona in January to discuss the situation.
Barca will be eager to maintain the value of the player, who has had several difficult seasons with injury, including a previous failed loan spell at Brighton.
Ansu Fati’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has risen to €13.8 million since moving to Monaco, having bottomed out at €6.5m in the summer.
