Barcelona have been linked with a move for Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus to bolster their forward line, according to Lance in Brazil.

The report says the club see him as a viable option for their attacking line and would add greater depth to a side that already consists of the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ferran Torres.

Jesus’ contract at City runs out in 2023, and Barcelona believe they can get a good deal with that in consideration, and a fee of around €30 million could be enough to secure their man.

Could Jesus move to Barcelona?

The Blaugrana were priced out of a move for their primary target, Erling Haaland, and see Jesus as an attainable secondary option.

The team have significantly improved on the goalscoring front over the last few months since the arrival of Xavi, and that could exploit Jesus’ talents even further.

Jesus joined Manchester City from boyhood club Palmeiras in 2017 and has scored 89 goals in 225 matches since then, winning three league titles in that time.

Despite playing second fiddle to Sergio Aguero at the start and often being rotated by Pep Guardiola, he has still had a stellar return and has the trophies to back up his time.

In that period, he also became a mainstay with the Brazilian national team under Tite, making 54 appearances for the national team.

Barcelona’s financial strictness may prevent this signing from happening, and they may focus on other positions as well as solidifying their wage structure, as they look to build on a positive second half of the season.

Although recent results haven’t gone their way, there is optimism that Xavi’s side could only get better in the coming months, and next season will be seen as an important one.

Both Aubameyang and Torres have contributed goals to the side, and should they add Jesus, there will be another fine option among their ranks.
