Wolfsburg head coach Oliver Glasner won’t rule out selling Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Wout Weghorst this month if the right offer comes in for the player.

Weghorst has been in exceptional form for the Bundesliga side, with 15 goals in 21 games across all competitions this season.

Due to his fantastic goal scoring and incredible ability in the air, the Dutch forward has been earmarked as a potential back-up to Harry Kane at Tottenham.

And Glasner admits that while the club have yet to be approached by other clubs for Weghorst’s signature in the January window, Wolfsburg would not stand in the player’s way if an exceptional offer were to materialise.

“I talk to Wout almost every day,” said Oliver Glasner to the German press on Monday. “If he were really serious about other clubs I would find out in front of the media.”

“If there is anything extraordinary for him and for Wolfsburg in January, you can never rule out something in football.”

Although Tottenham have rarely struggled for goals this season, it would make sense for Jose Mourinho’s title ambitions if the London club could bring in another striker in the January window.

Forwards Heung-Min Son and Kane have been in tremendous form, scoring 12 goals each in the opening 18 Premier League games of the season.

However, once we look beyond the dynamic duo, we do see a real lack of genuine goal scoring in Mourinho’s squad.

When it comes to goals scoring in the English top flight this season, sitting in third place in Tottenham’s squad is Tanguy Ndombele with just three goals in 16 appearances.

Indeed, reports from last year suggested that Tottenham had every intention of signing Weghorst in the summer but were unable to get a deal finalized, so instead settled on loaning Carlos Vinicius from Benfica.

However, the 25-year-old striker has managed just six goals in 13 appearances and largely been limited to inconsequential matches in the Europa League and FA Cup.
