Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger's representatives are demanding a remarkable signing-on fee from potential suitors as the 29-year-old prepares to leave west London.

Manager Thomas Tuchel is desperate to keep hold of the star centre-back, though it appears he will depart for one of Europe's biggest clubs, such as Manchester United or Real Madrid.

The German had already been linked with an exit, but the Blues' uncertain future has now made it even more likely.

Indeed, the Red Devils are in need of defensive reinforcements and see this as an ideal opportunity to sign one of the world's best.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, currently have a solid backline, but remain on the lookout for ways to improve.

And, as Rudiger's team know that he is of interest to some of the richest clubs in the world, they are asking for a hefty signing-on fee to boot.

Last season's Champions League winner is also going to become one of the highest-paid players in all of football.

How much is Rudiger's signing-on fee?

Should Rudiger decide to leave Chelsea, after a mixed five years at Stamford Bridge, he will be looking for finances that reflect his much improved standing within the game.

He has been a key part of Thomas Tuchel's team since the former PSG boss replaced Frank Lampard 14 months ago.

''The news we have today is the financial terms that currently Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger is asking to sign a new contract at whichever of the elite European football clubs can be convinced to take him,'' journalist Duncan Castles said on the Transfer Window Podcast.

''He's doing what a number of these well-known players, whose contracts are running down, is doing and offering his services to the top clubs.

''Real Madrid have been one of the candidates, Manchester United, Juventus, Bayern Munich.

''The price that his representatives are asking for is €30million signing on fee and a basic wage of at least €6m after tax each year.

''This is for a player who turned 29 this month, he is in the best season of his Chelsea career, a centre point of Thomas Tuchel's defence.''

Despite these incredible requests, interested teams won't be put off given the lack of a transfer fee.

The likes of Man Utd and Real Madrid will see the signing-on fee, albeit huge, as a substitute for having to bid for a contracted player.
