Aguero makes a return to Spanish football after 10 years at Man City, where he scored 260 goals in 390 games for the English side.

In that time he also won a remarkable amount of trophies, including five Premier League titles and a Champions League runners-up medal.

Aguero represents the first signing of the summer transfer window for Barcelona, who are expected to sign fellow Man City talent Eric Garcia as well as Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum in the coming days.

What does Aguero’s signing mean for Barcelona?

First and foremost, Aguero joins Barcelona as a striker that has a proven goalscoring rate at the very highest level in European football.

While the club already have a number of forward players, Ronald Koeman’s side undoubtedly lacked a classic No.9 in their team last season and will be all the better for having Aguero’s instincts in the penalty box.

The Argentine talent is also one of Lionel Messi’s closest friends and his arrival at the Catalan club is seen as a sure sign that the club’s biggest star has decided to stay put in Barcelona and will eventually sign a contract extension to play alongside his best friend.
