Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has admitted that he is not happy with his lack of playing time and has refused to rule out a January transfer.

The Germany international has made only one Premier League appearance this season, with Frank Lampard preferring Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma as his first-choice centre-back partnership.

“I can’t be satisfied with my situation, but the fight has been accepted,” Rudiger told ZDF.

“What will happen in January is a long way off. I’m completely relaxed.”

  • Rudiger joined Chelsea from Roma in 2017 for £29 million.

    He was a regular during his first two seasons at Stamford Bridge under Antonio Conte and then Maurizio Sarri but has slowly fallen out of favour since Frank Lampard took charge in the summer of 2019.

    Rudiger’s number of Premier League appearances fell to 20 last season, and things have deteriorated dramatically this term.

    The ex-Stuttgart star has been linked with a transfer to Barcelona in January, with the player having one eye on regular game time ahead of Euro 2021 next summer.
