Evra: Man United should have sold Pogba last summer

Manchester United should have sold star player Paul Pogba in the summer when they had the chance, according to former player Patrice Evra.
The France international has struggled to nail down a regular spot in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side this season and from 12 appearances the midfielder has managed just one goal and two assists.
As such, Pogba tends to be a lightning rod for regular grievances from the Man Utd support.
Ahead of the club’s clash with West Ham on Saturday, Evra took note of this and suggested the club should have sold the player ahead of the Premier League season to avoid this situation.

“The position of Paul [Pogba] is really easy,” he said on Sky Sports. “He talked with the board, he wanted to leave United to a certain point, they kept him.
“It’s difficult to blame him because he’s been honest with the board. Now he’s playing for United he should respect the shirt, he needs to respect his team-mates, the manager. And he’ll have a great chance.
“But I can already feel people just waiting for Paul to fail tonight. To again criticise him.
“But it’s been a problem they didn’t deal with at the beginning of the season. That’s the truth.”
Pogba returned to Man United in 2016 for a then-record transfer fee of £89.3 million from Juventus.
However, despite varying degrees of success under different managers at Old Trafford, the French international has struggled to justify the transfer fee or a commanding spot at the club.
As such, rumours have clung to the player as speculation continues to suggest an imminent departure from Man United.
The most recent round of reports seem to indicate that Serie A giants Juventus would be more than happy to bring the midfielder back to the club.
