Juventus striker Alvaro Morata has been discussing his future after a lively period in which he saw a January switch to Barcelona fail.

Since the Spain international’s on-off move to Camp Nou, he has been linked with a possible summer switch to Arsenal – a club known to be in the market for additional offensive options.

Certainly, Morata’s future at Juventus is uncertain following the club’s heavy investment in striker Dusan Vlahovic, who arrived from Fiorentina during the closing days of the January window.

The Spaniard, meanwhile, is only at the club on loan from Atletico Madrid, with Juventus having a purchase option valued around €35 million.

“Dusan’s arrival has helped me,” he claimed in a press conference before Tuesday’s Champions League meeting with Villarreal. “I’d always stay here if it was up to me.”

Why Morata to Barca broke down

Although that decision will not be solely in his hands, Morata says that he feels the support of head coach Massimiliano Allegri.

“Allegri was crucial. I’ve always felt his support,” he said when pressed as to why his transfer to Barcelona fell apart.

“He knows my qualities and my shortcomings, he told me that he trusted me, now I must fight and repay his trust.

“I spoke with the coach during the transfer window, we spoke about his ideas and how he saw the team.”

Indeed, he seems unconcerned with his new supporting role.

“Dusan is very young but has a wonderful career ahead. He has settled in, he is a nice guy off the pitch. Hopefully, he can score his first Champions League goal tomorrow,” Morata said of his new Serbian colleague.

“I feel well, the most important thing is to help Juventus win.”

Morata will be with Juventus until at least June, upon which time he will return to Atletico Madrid if the Italian side elect not to purchase him.
