Tottenham have officially completed the signing of Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk, with defender Tosin Adarabioyo also set to be unveiled shortly.

Spurs have had an incredibly busy summer transfer window after back-to-back 17th-place finishes in the Premier League. More than €350 million has been splashed on incoming signings, and the club were always going to be active on Deadline Day after a poor start to the new campaign.

Roberto de Zerbi has been heavily backed in the market, yet there are already cracks in the facade, with the Italian suggesting that you "can't buy mentality" after Spurs lost to Newcastle at the weekend.

Nevertheless, the club's owners are doubling down on their support for the Italian with perhaps the most obvious De Zerbi signings of the summer. On Monday night, Tottenham agreed a double deal with Chelsea for two players the Italian adores.

The North London club have signed centre-back Tosin, whom De Zerbi tried to sign for both Brighton and Marseille, and the coach's former Shakhtar Donetsk protégé Mudryk.

Despite already bringing in Jan Paul van Hecke and Marcos Senesi, De Zerbi wanted another centre-back for his team. With Tosin deemed surplus to requirements at Chelsea, negotiations between the London rivals weren't too difficult.

The only complication arose when Spurs also enquired about Mudryk, a player Chelsea wanted to loan out. With Premier League rules restricting clubs to just one intra-league loan signing from the same team, Spurs had to change their Tosin offer from temporary to permanent.

An agreement for a fee in the region of €8 million plus bonuses was reached overnight, with Tosin joining after two years at Chelsea, having arrived from local rivals Fulham on a free transfer in 2024.

Around the same time, the two clubs also settled the terms for Mudryk's loan move, which surprisingly contains a permanent element. Tottenham have the option to sign the Ukraine international for around €87.5m next summer.

On the face of it, adding the 25-year-old is a bizarre move considering that he has not played competitive football in over 18 months due to his now-revoked doping ban, but his history with De Zerbi is key.

The Italian gave Mudryk his big break at Shakhtar and once went so far as to suggest that he could one day win the Ballon d'Or. Now, he will look to help him rebuild his career.

Mudryk was a hugely disappointing signing for Chelsea after his €70m move from Shakhtar. He made 73 appearances between early 2023 and late 2024 but only contributed 10 goals and 11 assists.

"It's a great feeling," Mudryk said at his unveiling. "I can't wait to start training and playing for the Club, and I'm so excited to be reunited with Roberto De Zerbi.

"I'm a player who brings speed and creativity, and I want to help in both the offensive and defensive areas. I want to make the fans excited. I can see it's a strong squad here with good players, and I'm looking forward to sharing a pitch and special moments with them."
