Surprise Thomson signing

Man Utd have announced the unexpected signing of Tottenham youngster Tynan Thompson.

The 18-year-old has cost the Red Devils around €4.7 million upfront, with a further €4.7m potentially owed to Spurs if certain add-ons are triggered. The North London club have also retained a 15% sell-on clause.

Thompson's move was reportedly motivated by his family's desire to relocate, and he has now joined Man Utd after scoring 13 goals across all competitions for Spurs' U18s and U21s last season.

Romano confirms Kone talks

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Man Utd are in talks with the entourage of AS Roma midfielder Manu Kone.

The France international has emerged as a key target for the Red Devils following their decision to pull out of a deal for Atalanta star Ederson, who has since signed a new long-term contract in Bergamo.

Discussions with Kone's representatives have taken place, but Man Utd have yet to make a bid for the Roma man. "On the midfield situation, I can confirm the appreciation for Manu Kone," Romano said.

"There have been contacts with the player's agents but no bid to Roma and no club-to-club talks. Man Utd are assessing different options... They're looking for someone defensive, physical, someone who can break the lines. Manu Kone is one option, but he is not the only one."

Rashford latest

Man Utd winger Marcus Rashford has no interest in joining another English club, as per David Ornstein.

The England winger is expected to be reintegrated into the Red Devils' first team after his post-World Cup holiday. Earlier this summer, loan club Barcelona decided against exercising their €30m purchase option for him.

Rashford could yet move this summer but only if approached by a truly elite club. "Marcus Rashford is expected to be reintegrated into the squad," Ornstein said.

"Rashford only wants to stay at Manchester United if he remains in England, but he would consider top European clubs such as Barcelona, PSG, Bayern Munich or Real Madrid if offers arrive. If Rashford stays, it saves United a transfer fee and agent commissions on a new winger, freeing up resources for midfield."

Baturina an option, but...

Man Utd are interested in Como midfielder Martin Baturina, but he may be too expensive, as per Calciomercato.

The 23-year-old impressed for Croatia at the World Cup and is expected to eventually secure a big transfer. Man Utd and several other Premier League clubs are following his development.

However, Como will only sell if the player expresses a desire to move or if an extraordinary offer arrives. President Mirwan Suwarso recently insisted that he does not want to sell his most talented players because the Serie A side are building a long-term project.
