Exclusive: Arsenal left Rogers talks after Chelsea bid

FootballTransfers understands that Arsenal left the talks for Aston Villa attacker Morgan Rogers as soon as Chelsea made their €138 million bid.

The England star was the Gunners' top target, but they were not prepared to break the bank for him, nor did they have any interest in getting drawn into a bidding war.

Chelsea did not hijack the signing of Rogers because there was no transfer to hijack. Arsenal were preparing a bid, but they never reached an agreement with Villa, and they simply walked away from the deal after the Blues got in there first.

Tzolis move confirmed

Club Brugge manager Ivan Leko has confirmed that Christos Tzolis is on his way to Arsenal.

The Greece international will join the Gunners in a record-breaking €40m move that will not only see him become Brugge's biggest sale but also his country's most expensive player.

"I am convinced that he will have his minutes, that he will show the highest level in the Premier League and Champions League at Arsenal, and he will show that he is a top player and absolutely deserves to go and be there," Leko said.

Diomande opportunity?

PSG are ready to stop their pursuit of RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, Malick Traore claims.

The Ligue 1 champions are struggling to agree a deal for the Ivory Coast wonderkid due to the "complexity" of the operation, particularly pertaining to his image rights. As a result, they could now pursue Bournemouth's Eli Kroupi instead.

This could have a big influence on Arsenal's business. Gunners target Bradley Barcola won't leave PSG unless a replacement is signed. Diomande would have been that replacement, but with a move to France off, Arsenal could now target him instead of Barcola.

Stones deal eyed

Arsenal are interested in former Man City defender John Stones, as per The Sun.

The England star is available on a free transfer after the expiration of his contract at the Etihad. Arsenal could make a move for him as a short-term replacement for William Saliba.

The Gunners defender suffered a serious back injury on World Cup duty with France and is expected to be sidelined for several months, necessitating the signing of a replacement.

Alvarez hope

Arsenal have not yet given up hope of potentially signing Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, according to Ben Jacobs.

The 26-year-old is a key target for the Gunners and Barcelona, with his preference being a move to the latter. In fact, reports have suggested that the Argentine has no interest in returning to England after his spell at Man City.

However, Jacobs believes that a deal is not impossible, even if it looks difficult. "We need to keep an eye on the Julian Alvarez situation. Arsenal are alert to that opportunity, but it’s a difficult deal," he said.
