Fabrizio Romano transfer news: Julian Alvarez breaks silence as Arsenal and Man City eye Livramento
Fabrizio Romano has delivered fresh transfer updates following the latest Champions League matches, with major talking points involving Tottenham’s managerial situation, Antoine Griezmann’s Atletico Madrid future and growing interest in Julian Alvarez ahead of the summer window.
Igor Tudor under pressure at Tottenham
Romano began by detailing the situation at Spurs – one that he says could yet end with manager Igor Tudor being sacked after just four games.
“Tottenham are in a very difficult moment after the defeat against Atletico Madrid,” he told his YouTube channel.
“It is four games under Igor Tudor and four defeats, which is the first time in Tottenham’s history with a new manager.
“It is also the first time Tottenham have lost six consecutive matches.
“At the moment Tottenham have confirmed that Tudor will take the press conference ahead of the Liverpool game, but he remains at serious risk of being sacked at any moment.
“The situation is very fluid in the short term.
“For the long term the plan has always been clear, because Tudor signed a short contract and in the summer Tottenham want a new manager.
“The two names still very high on the shortlist are Roberto De Zerbi and Mauricio Pochettino.”
Cristian Romero could leave Tottenham
“Another important story at Tottenham is about Cristian Romero,” Romano added.
“There is a serious possibility that Romero could leave Tottenham in the summer transfer window.
“Top clubs in Europe and also abroad are calling and asking about the situation of the Argentine defender.
“So Romero is one to watch in the summer because there is strong interest.”
Antoine Griezmann staying at Atletico for now
One of the stars of the Champions League this week was the Frenchman Antoine Griezmann. Linked with Orlando City, he’s not making the move just yet.
“Antoine Griezmann has now confirmed he will stay at Atletico Madrid for the moment,” Romano confirmed.
“The deal with Orlando City will not happen now in March.
“Griezmann will stay to play the Copa del Rey final and continue the Champions League campaign with Atletico.
“But in the summer Orlando City will try again.
“They are already working to understand if they can get the green light from Atletico Madrid for a move at the end of the season.”
Julian Alvarez opens door to possible summer move
Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez could be on the move in the summer, with the Argentine doing nothing to quell transfer rumours.
“Julian Alvarez has spoken publicly about his future after a long time,” Romano said.
“When asked if he will stay at Atletico Madrid next season, his answer was not completely closed.
“He said something like maybe yes, maybe not, you never know what happens in life.
“He also made clear that he is very happy at Atletico Madrid and focused on competing.
“But the feeling is that things could happen in the summer transfer window.
“Barcelona appreciate Alvarez a lot, even if there are no negotiations at the moment.
“There is also interest from the Premier League and from Paris Saint-Germain, who already wanted him before he joined Atletico.”
Bayern determined to keep Michael Olise
Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise has been linked with a move to Liverpool, meanwhile, but it’s one that will be tough for the Reds to force through.
Romano said: “Michael Olise is having a fantastic moment with Bayern, including his performance against Atalanta in the Champions League.”
“The club see him as a top player and a key part of their project.
“Despite links with Liverpool and other clubs, Bayern absolutely do not want Olise to leave in the summer.
“They are playing down all the reports and their position is very clear.”
Alisson wants to stay at Liverpool
Alisson does not want to leave Anfield, despite reports linking the Liverpool goalkeeper with a return to Serie A, where he previously played for Roma.
“There have been stories in Italy about Alisson and interest from clubs such as Inter and Juventus,” Romano said.
“But the message from the player’s camp is that Alisson wants to continue at Liverpool.
“He is under contract until 2027 and his desire is to fulfil that contract.
“Then he could assess his future, but for now the intention is to stay.”
Tino Livramento one to watch for the summer
Newcastle’s Tino Livramento is the subject of interest from Arsenal, as exclusively revealed by FootballTransfers, and they are unlikely to come under pressure from Manchester City in this particular case.
Romano revealed: “There have been questions about Tino Livramento, especially links with Arsenal and Manchester City.
“Arsenal are following several right-backs because that position will be one of their priorities in the summer. But there is nothing advanced with Livramento at this stage.
“Also, despite reports, Livramento is not the right-back Manchester City are currently signing.
“City wanted him one year ago, but since then the situation has been completely on standby.
“So Livramento remains a player to watch for the summer transfer window.”
