Official bid lands for Celtic target as club-record signing confirmed
Celtic are at serious risk of missing out on another target in Mateusz Bogusz following Louis Munteanu's club-record move to DC United.
The Parkhead club have had to take the drastic decision of sacking manager Wilfried Nancy after just 33 days in charge due to his absolutely abysmal start to life in Glasgow.
The Frenchman lost six of his eight games, including a stunning League Cup final upset at the hands of St. Mirren and a chastening 3-1 defeat to Rangers at Celtic Park at the weekend.
Martin O'Neill has returned for a second time this season, and third overall, to lead the team until the end of the campaign, having overseen an upturn in performance during his first interim spell before Nancy's arrival.
However, the uncertainty over and eventual sacking of Nancy has hamstrung the Hoops so far in the January window. Right-back Julian Araujo is the only arrival to date, having joined from Bournemouth on a straight six-month loan.
Houston make Bogusz bid
On Monday, it was officially confirmed that Celtic had missed out on the signing of Romania international Louis Munteanu. The striker instead joined DC United in a club-record €8.6 million ($10m) deal.
Now, Celtic are at serious risk of also missing out on Mateusz Bogusz. The Poland international is expected to leave Mexican side Cruz Azul this month, and Fabrizio Romano reports that the Houston Dynamo have submitted a first formal bid for him.

The former Leeds attacker left MLS franchise LAFC last January but struggled to make his mark in Mexico. He has been linked with Celtic, who desperately need offensive reinforcements, but he now appears to be closing in on a return to the US.
Nevertheless, there is still plenty of time for Celtic to be active this month. O'Neill certainly believes that the squad ought to be strengthened. "I think that we would have to supplement the squad in some capacity," he told talkSPORT.
"We would have to do that if it's at all possible. You only have this period of time. We all know that January transfer windows are difficult, difficult to get the players you probably want at the football club. But we do need to supplement it, and we're going all out to try and do that."
