Chelsea in 'advanced negotiations' to sign wonderkid striker
Chelsea are in "advanced talks" to sign Olympique Marseille prospect Said Remadnia, according to a report.
The 16-year-old is a striker by trade and has been playing in the U19 age group of the French giants. This season, Remadnia has scored a couple of goals and notched an assist in the UEFA Youth League.
According to Africa Foot, several European clubs have been keeping a close eye on the teenager's development in Marseille's youth system. Chelsea are the most concretely interested side, and discussions over a transfer have already taken place.
In fact, the Blues are said to be in "advanced talks" to sign the forward after "significantly accelerating" their pursuit of him in recent times. However, Remadnia would not be able to move to the UK until he turns 18 in March 2027.
The young attacker's form hasn't just attracted the attention of clubs, either. The report points out that Remadnia is also the subject of a fierce struggle over his international allegiances.
Who is Said Remadnia?
Remadnia was born in France to parents of Algerian and Tunisian descent, which means that he is eligible to represent three different countries at the international level.
He has yet to feature for any of them, and there has been no definitive decision regarding the matter from the youngster. He was part of an Algeria U17 squad in June but did not make his debut.
The report describes Remadnia as an "explosive and technically gifted striker" with "above-average" maturity for his age. He is not a particularly physical presence, however.
Chelsea are planning to "proceed methodically" with his signing. Given the significant interest in Remadnia, the topic of a transfer is described as a "sensitive matter," which the Blues are determined to turn in their favour.
Remadnia's arrival would be another sign of Chelsea's ambition to acquire the best young talent in world football.
