Fabrizio Romano reveals McTominay to Premier League January ‘fantasy’ transfer
Fabrizio Romano has rubbished reports that Scott McTominay could return to the Premier League in January.
The 28-year-old has been heavily linked in recent weeks with a return to England in 2026.
Fichajes claimed that Everton are ready to ramp up their pursuit of his signature by submitting a club record offer of €70 million for his services.
However, Romano has dismissed such reports as "fantasy".
McTominay to Premier League return?
Speaking on his Italian YouTube channel, Romano says that stories of McTominay returning to the Premier League are nonsense.
He says that McTominay never once considered returning to England during the past summer transfer window and it will be the same case in January.
Romano says that McTominay is very happy at Napoli, he wants to play in the Champions League - which Everton can't offer - and there is no chance at all of a January move.
McTominay enjoyed a legendary 2024-25 season after joining Napoli from Man Utd a year ago.
He was named Serie A Most Valuable Player by the league after leading the club to a historic Scudetto.
The Scotsman proved the key player for Antonio Conte's men, scoring a host of key goals in the title run-in, including the decisive opener on the final day win over Cagliari that clinched the Scudetto.
In total, McTominay scored 12 Serie A goals in the past season as Man Utd were made to regret selling him.
He was subsequently nominated for the Ballon d'Or and he also played a key role in Scotland qualifying for their first World Cup in 28 years.
This week, McTominay scored an incredible bicycle kick for Scotland in their decisive 4-2 win over Denmark at home.
