Barcelona youngster Ansu Fati has been offered to Chelsea, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The erstwhile heir to Lionel Messi, Fati has struggled to live up to the billing since he first burst onto the scene in spectacular fashion. Still only 20, the attacker still has more than enough time to fulfil his potential, but in order to do that he needs game time, which he is not really getting at Barcelona.

Repeatedly linked with a move away, rumours regarding a potential departure eventually died down with Fati having been said to be keen on staying and fighting for his place. Barcelona, however, are apparently open to cashing in on the former wonderkid in order to boost their finances.

Fati is once again playing second fiddle in Xavi's team this term, having only featured in a combined 47 minutes thus far across the Blaugrana's three LaLiga games. Perhaps because of this, there is now a real chance to see him depart Catalonia after all.

Fati has Premier League suitors

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have initiated contact with Ansu Fati's camp to be informed of his situation as they still seek a creative attacking option. Spurs have also recently begun heavily courting Nottingham Forest's Brennan Johnson.

More intriguingly, Romano revealed that "Chelsea have also been presented [an] Ansu opportunity earlier this week," though he did not specify what exactly this slightly cryptic phrasing means. It appears, though, that Chelsea were offered the chance to sign Fati, be it by Barcelona or the player's superagent Jorge Mendes.

This is backed up by Relevo's Matteo Moretto who reports that "Chelsea and Tottenham are two options on the table for Ansu Fati." As Romano said, this situation is "one to watch until the end of the window" as the Blues are in the market for an attacker after being rejected by Michael Olise.
